4,100 iPad's for Air France pilots

Air France has started to equip their 4,100 pilots with iPad's to replace usual laptops. Delivery for the Boeing 777's pilots started in the June month of 2012 and it estimates to finish until summer of 2013.
With iPads, pilots have access to information in electronic format, replacing the old heavy printed books they used for preparation before the flight.
They will be able to download the required documents from anywhere in the world and will be notified about news. Pilots will also be able to access airport maps. All these applications will be available for download on flight personnel Pilot Store, a gateway specially developed by Air France.
Using iPads will simplify the pilots, helping them to prepare and submit regular reports easier after flights.
"Always looking for new ways to improve the safety and performance of our flights," said Eric Schramm, Air France Executive Vice President Flight Operations and Boeing 777 pilot also. "Equipping our pilots with iPads will simplify access to critical information and enhance vital communication channels within the company," said Schramm.
