Russian government decided to lift a ban on all kinds of aerial and space photography above the territory of RF and also lift a ban on creating and using such maps.
As reported by the head of GIS Market Support Association, Sergey Miller, the directive on approval of new lists on privacy of spatial data was signed by the Minister of Economic Development of Russia, Andrey Belousov, on October 5th. The directive has a “Not for public use” status that is why Ministry of Economic Development did not publish it.
According to GIS Market Support Association, the document removes all the restrictions on aerial and space photography. The restrictions on using state geographical and topographical maps with scales of up to 1:5000 and over 1:50000 have also been removed. The restrictions on publishing of coordinates of full-time differential correction stations independent of their departmental affiliation and rights of property have also been removed.
We remind you that the removing of Soviet-era’s restrictions on finding of precise position and publishing of such maps has been discussed for about a decade. These restrictions are believed to be outdated.
