Ukrainian emergency situations ministry images from the scene of the South Airlines Antonov An-24 crash in Donetsk have identified the aircraft involved as a 40-year old airframe.
The ministry says 52 people, including eight crew members, were on board the aircraft (UR-WRA) when it crashed while landing after an internal flight.
The aircraft was originally delivered to Aeroflot but was later in service with Ukrainian operators including Windrose.
Forty-seven of those on board were rescued, says the ministry, with nine hospitalised with various injuries. Flight YG8971 came down after a service from the city of Odessa on 13 February.
